“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” – James 1:27
Faith in Action has received a calling from God to serve the foster children and senior citizens within our community. To do this work, we have partnered with Douglas County Department of Family & Children Services, the Douglas County Foster Parents Association, and Douglas Senior Services. For the past several years, FIA volunteers has provided monthly child care to foster children while their foster parents receive continuing education. We also adopt numerous foster children each Christmas and provide gifts. FIA projects serving foster children have included everything from outfitting the dorm room of the first local foster child to attend college to assistance with athletic fees and costs.
Recently, we have expanded the ministry to provide and deliver homemade birthday cakes to foster children. We are also in process of providing free haircuts and styling to foster kids.
Our seniors frequently live on small fixed incomes and often do not have nearby relatives or friends who can address their unique needs. FIA volunteers include licensed contractors who provide small home repair services free of charge. We are also in the process of growing our ministry to seniors by providing free lawn care.
